Course Description
The participants will:
· Learn the principles of bone biology and bone healing
· Learn the principles of biomechanics in osteosynthesis
· Get an overview of perioperative patient management
· Assess a fracture correctly (clinical, biological and mechanical)
· Learn principles of open reduction and internal fixation
· Have received information about different fixation concepts
· Learn the principles and the application of implants used in osteosynthesis
· Get an overview of fracture treatment of the different bones
· Be able to correctly choose and use different fracture fixation devices
· Assess, discuss and treat complications in fracture treatment
· Get the information of AO history and philosophy
Participant Criteria
The course is aimed at any veterinarian with an interest in orthopaedic surgery and is recommended for surgical interns and residents in training.
